Newbie MIC and Light question

While I am enjoying my new hobby and GL2 I am finding the add-ons are quickly approaching the cost of the camera and will exced it over time. I am trying to get some decent gear for starters and over time start upgrading where I see the need and expanding. I am thinking I am going to need a decent shotgun mic. I have to shoot a weeding next month and suspect from my vantage point I will be far enough away that the GL2 built in mic will pic up too much extraneous noise, especially from the camera itself. Was wondering what recommendations anyone might have for a decent shotgun mic that I can use for shoot like weddings and some interview type shots.
Anyone have some feedback on the Canon VL10li light? I am ordering it hoping it will work as a good basic light for some close interview style shoots where subject will be less than 10-12 feet from camera.

Thanks!

I'm relatively new as well, but from my research it seems that the Sennheiser M60 is the best choice. I think you can find it for around $350 depending on where you go. Don't limit your search to DV websites though. When it comes to audio, the musician websites sometimes have better prices on microphones.
