Optimum settings for shooting outdoor sports
I am going to be shooting a lot of high school softball this spring. Some of it in daylight but most of it at night under the lights. Can you guys help me with the best way to handle the GL2 settings for this? I'm most interested in shutter speed and WB. Is auto focus going to work okay or would you go manual on that? I've only had my GL2 for a month and I'm still working through the learning curve. Thanks for any help you can offer. - Jeff

The best thing you can do is see what works in practice. Especially
during the night scenes. A high shutter speed is most interesting since that will make the motion of the ball and players more sharp. You will need to open up the iris (f stop) and may even need to use higher gain levels if you want to maintain a certain shutter speed. The camera also comes with a shutter priority mode, in that case you can set the desired shutter speed and the rest of the camera is in auto mode to try and get you a decent exposed image. Ofcourse, manual mode is usually better. |
