Sennheiser EW112-P
 

Hello,

I've been reading on this board for quite a while, but never posted here. So, this will be my first one :-)

My question(s):

I'm looking for a wireless microphone system and am looking at the Sennheiser EW112-P. From what I've read, this is a decent unit for a reasonable price.

Does anyone on this board have some experience with this unit ?

I'm using a beachtek XLR-adapter with a Sennheiser K6/ME66.
Now the EW112 has a mini-jack connector. Can I hook this up to the AUX connector of the Beachtek without trouble ?

I am interested in the EW112-P also, and have read good things about it.
Sorry I don't have answers for you, but I wanted to ask you two things:
Where did get the lens hood shown in your pictures?
And, what is required to hook the Sennheiser K6/ME66 to the camera? I know about the beachtek , but what kind of shock mount do I need?
Sorry to hit you with questions when you're looking for answers. I may go ahead and order the wireless mic this week. I have to have something for a wedding this weekend and need a little time to fiddle around with it. If I get it, I'll report back, but I'm sure there are plenty of people on here that can steer you (us) right.

The lens hood came with the Wide-angle lens. The lens is the Cavision dwc06x58 (see http://www.cavision.com/Video/DV/dwc06x58.htm)
On the cavision site there is mentioned that this lens is for the VX2K and PD150, but when I spoke to Cavision they said the lens is also suitable for the XM1 (GL1).
I've used it for quite a while now, and am very pleased with the lens. The lens is sharp, barrel distortion is minimal, and there is no vignetting in maximum wide-angle.

The shockmount I use is the Beyerdynamic EA86. It's actually ment for the Beyerdynamic MCE86 shotgun, but the diameter of this mic and the ME66 is the same, so the ME66 fits perfectly.
It's a nice shockmount because it is small and it raises the mic not too much above the camera.
I use a so called "extension arm" from a Sony microphone (the MS908C). This arm moves the microphone away from the camera body, so I am able to use the top handle without trouble.

I ordered this system: "EW100ENG(A) Camera Mountable UHF Wireless Lavalier and Plug-On Bundle with EK100 Receiver, SKP100 Plug-On Transmitter, SK100 BodyPack Transmitter and ME2 Microphone." I also ordered the Beachtek. I'll have it tomorrow, and give you a report then. I needed this for a wedding this weekend, so I'm going to experiment with set-ups. The kit above is apparently the EW112-P, but with an additional transmitter for a handheld mic, and also an XLR cable. I'll have to see exactly what is in the box. Doh! I'll let you know what I find. I'm surprised nobody else has responded because I think this is a popular system.

The Evolution 100 series is excellent. You should find it quite easy to setup and use. There are several different frequency bands that the units operate in. It is a good idea when buying one to see which band is best for your area.

The bodypack receiver has a knob for adjusting the receiver output. Typically I set mine around 75% but you may want to experiment with this some.

I also removed the receiver's belt clip and placed 'gorilla velco' on the cam and the receiver. Gorilla velco is a stronger version of the 'hook and loop' velco. Both pieces look the same and are available at Home Depot, et al.

For storage, I put receiver and transmitter in seperate bags and remove the batteries. I always buy a spare set 9 volt batts on the day of the shoot in case the others have gone bad.

I am sorry it took me an extra day to post about this.
I got the EW100 combo system that I described earlier. If I understand correctly, one of your questions was whether it could be hooked directly into the AUX input of the beachtek, and I believe the answer is 'Yes.' I have had very little time to play around with the beachtek and the mic system, but it looks like that setup is great. Again, I'm going to have to spend a little more time with the units.
I hope this helps. If you want I can post back when I've had the unit longer and had time to fully play with the controls on the beachtek with the receiver going into the auxilary port. I should have this under control this weekend. Work is just busy, busy, busy right now.

Yes, please let me know if you hooked the receiver in the AUX port succesfully.
This is my main concern, because I want to use another microphone on the first XLR channel at the same time.

Good to hear that you've been busy. It's better that way then having to sit at home all day, isn't it :-)
