Audio problem dubbing from VHS
 

Hey all! Because I was out of DV tapes last week, I was forced to tape directly to VHS. The audio on the VHS was very good, but the DV copy has a BAD echo/reverb problem! I transfered the footage from VHS to DV per page 101 of the manual, and I am at a loss as to why I'm getting this awful, echoey audio. Has anybody run into this problem before, and if so, what is the cure? (or can someone maybe tell me what I'm doing wrong?)

OK. I figured out what the problem was. I was using a borrowed S-VHS editing deck (Panasonic AG-1980) that I'd never worked with before, and found the Hi-Fi/Linear Mix switch should be set to off, not on. Soooooo, now that I feel like a total dumbass....

Maybe next time I'll actually be able to post a real problem...

Vince - don't feel bad. Last weekend I called my computer guy in a panic - My 3 month old video card was apparently shot! I lost signal on one of my monitors and was only getting blue on the other. I called him back an hour later and had to 'fess up that I didn't check the monitor plugs... yep they pulled loose!

DOH!!

Can't exactly say I haven't been in that situation myself, or dozens of others over the years...
