shimmer

I was editing some film tonight. When i ran the clips there is distinct shimmer, an overall movement of sorts of the entire frames. when I stop the picture itself looks clear. I was using 16 x 9 and frame mode at 1/60th of a second.
Is this a camera deal or an editing deal???

Dale - check to see if your image stabilization is on. On a static shot (tripod) having that on will sometimes cause a shaking

What type of lighting? What kind of venue?

Thanks for the time,

It is definitely tripod shooting, always outdoors, light was farely bright. If I recall correctly I had it on TV and set at 60 and ae -2.
Yes i did have the image stabilization on.

I will test it out tomarrow and run it with and with out I.S. on.

Dale,

Were you viewing your edit pre or post compression? If post, it may just be an issue with your compression settings. I've experienced stutter and tearing with Sorenson. Don't know the solution, however. Somebody else?

Good Luck.....

Shimmer Occasionally

Don't know if this is what you are experiencing, but I sometimes get what might be described as a shimmer in my image. For example, if a woman's dress has a stripe pattern, the image of her dress will shimmer. If the background, say the choir loft/organ pipe area of a church has a stripe pattern, the image will shimmer. I do rememer that each time I was using a shoulder brace to hold the camera and so had the optical stabilization turned on. Never noticed the shimmer when on a tripod when the optical stabilization was turned off. I Know I've gotten these results with my GL1. Can't remember if this has happened with my GL2.

shimmer

It is probably to late for you to read this, but what the heck. The shimmer is primarily from using the optical image stabilazation device whil using a tripod. However, when i capture the image is still but when i preview in edit mode I see some shimmer on the monitor. When I cut it to dvd i do not see the edit shimmer, but i would see the ois shimmer as it is recorded that way.
