Canon Optura Xi (MVX3i), please post some frame grabs

Hi,

There is a lack of frame grabs from this camera to compare it to Panasonic MX500 (PV953 or MX5000) which is its competitor in this price bracket.

There is an ongoing thread in Pana forums about halo effect MX500 has and we would like to be able to compare tests to Xi. Here is the thread:

and here some other Canon, Pana and Sony tests but no Xi:

Would some kind soul be so kind and do some grabs of high contrast subjects with sharp edges both horizontal and vertical, like something dark against sky or something light against dark background. Also if Xi has the sharpen control with various settings for sharpening.

I seen some long shots done with Xi previously posted here and didn't notice that halo effect.

Free web space is still available here:

Thanks

I just got a hold of an Optura Xi, I'll take some video and post in a day or two.

Here is the only frame grab I have online of my past Xi.

Its 16:9 and still in its anamoprhic squeezed state of 720x480.

I was not very pleased of how the Xi handled extreme contrasts as my 3CCD cams had no problem with this task (DV953, PDX10, VX2000, and GS100). The frame abovehas clouds but the sky was so blown out you can't see them.

These frames are 16:9 and frame mode from my GS100. They are also still unsqueezed at 720x480.
