Insanity Check

Check this out

Am I correct? Or am I imagining things? Can someone check this with their Optura 10/20 camcorder?

I'm not sure, but I think that you need to be a member of CamcorderInfo.com and logged in to be able to jump to the thread like that. Otherwise it gives you that error. Could be wrong, and I've been wrong before, so.... :D

Kin, I'm gonna try and borrow my friends Optura 20 and see if you're nuts or not! :)

So you're saying that you're getting better 16:9 using the built-in 16:9 mode vs. cropping it with the card mode mix?

Perhaps they are using a similar 16:9 method like on the newer models?

Kin Kwan August 11th, 2004 01:13 AM

Hey Michael, thanks for replying!

The newer models (Optura Xi, 30, etc) all have native 16:9 CCDs, which means that there's actually more pixels used. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

My aging Optura 20 uses the old 16:9 method which chops off the top and bottom of a 4:3 frame and stretches the center for a widescreen effect. So technically, less pixels are used for 16:9.
