Tip: Infinity Focus on the Opturas

If you want to focus on faraway objects like mountains or fireworks, hold the the Auto/Manual Focus button for 3 seconds until you see the MF + infinity sign on your LCD.

This is also a good mode to use if you want to avoid having the camcorder hunt for focus. Infinity mode sets the focus to the widest possible depth of field so pretty much everything is in focus.

* If you operate the zoom or focus ring, the Optura will go back to manual focus. The infinity sign should disappear from your display.

Man, I've really gotta start reading the manual. Sure enough, my Optura 30 goes into infinity just as described. Thanks for the heads up!
