HV20 Underwater Housing
 

For those interested in housing the HV20 for underwater use.. ( deeper than
20ft)

Ikelight has released a new underwater housing for the HV20.. it can be seen

One of the most important features of shooting any camera underwater is the ability to change white balance on a camera as the red spectrum of the light changes with depth and from the direction the sun is illuminating the underwater structures. This housing has that ability and other controls too.

And it has a depth rating more aligned with deeper diving......

Thanks for the info, Ray. It houses both, standard and big battery too. Looks quite decent, even allowing you to use wide angle 67mm lenses.

In the other hand, is very expensive. It costs almost the same as the camera. I can't doubt this one is the perfect choice for sea pr0s , but I was only interested in one of those as a newbie. Never saw a fish underwater actually :P

Do you know of cheaper options? Regards.

I picked up a used Hypertech housing (for Hi-8 camcorder) on Ebay with the intention of just sticking the HV20 in with it recording and editing the footage later. But I have found that by altering the controls, I should be able to get access to the Start/Stop record button and the menu buttons (for white balance). Cost of the housing was $79, add another $15 in modifications. I will probably add an LCD monitor to the rear as well. This option is also somewhat bulkier than the Ikelite.

The Ikelite would certainly be preferred, but I just can't afford it right now.
