300 style effect via 60i->60p->24p

I just fell in love with the HV20 all over again. The ability to control the shutter speed makes its possible to shoot clear sports style footage. I would never have learned about 60i->60p with the consumer cams I used to have.

Nice job Mike. Makes me want to shoot some slow motion fighting.

Another try

http://www.vimeo.com/473205

This time using quarter to half speed as base then cranking up.

This one was taken 60i in TV-100 under bright daylight. Tripod is a must. All actions are shot at normal speed. Captured m2t via HDVSplit and imported footage into a 720p 60p project (Vegas 8). Smart Resample, Motion blur: Gaussian, Deinterlace: Interpolate. Rendered as 720p 60p WMV file. Imported output file to a new 720p 24p project. Changed clip speed to 0.5. Added Velocity envelope. From left to right, looked for the highlight portions of the actions. The first highlight was right hand grabbing the bottle. Second highlight was drinking.

Highlight 1:
Added three points, one before, one in the middle, one after hand grabs bottle. Raised the middle point to 212%. Moved the middle point so it stayed right up to where the hand makes contact. This formed a ^ shape on the envelope.

Highlight 2:
Added three points, one 1 second before the start of drinking. One middle right at where the drinking starts. Then another immediately after. Centered the middle point. The third point was moved directly underneath the middle point to cause an immediate drop to "normal" (in this case .5x) clip speed. The shape of the velocity envelope was like a right sided triangle.

That last link won't work, says it's a private clip.

Sorry, its public now. BTW, the footage is mixed from HV20 and CMOS helmet cams.

Nice one Mike. Brilliant work on the editing there, the earlier one too.
