okay i got my HG10, and need some advice/Help!

I took the camera out just to film our dog, i mainly got this camera to film Biking, and Sports, but after seeing the video of my dog, i was not happy!

The video came out with alot of ghosting in different settings.... mainly the most Disappointing was Shutter Prioty @ 1000 running 60i..... Alot of ghosting...

can someone, anyone give me a few settings to try out for shooting my dog running around, shooting with alot of movements and biking, i'm currenty uploading a video to vimeo, as soon as it's up it'll edit this thread and post the link to the video!

I have never had good results with a consumer camcorder at shutter speeds over 1/500. You have to have VERY BRIGHT conditions not to throw the cam into gain. When you start using gain, the video begins to deteriorate and get muddy looking. Also, shooting at 1/500 or faster will cause major stuttering effects. How that looks when you play it back on an LCD monitor could be your ghosting issue.

Guy thanks for the response, i thin kit was the shutter speed, i took my dog down (before it got like 5 below zero) and had her run around while i shot in different settings. Here is my take:

Auto: Walking and shooting with auto caused some ghosting

Sport: Sport did not perform as well i as though tit would, but it was good enough

Cine Mode: Cine mode was pretty decent, but the colors seems dead-like

Sunset: Sunset was actually really really good.... the colors came out great/bright and my dog was running around and i managed to get the full motion with partial ghosting

i thought the camera would perform much better, my Sanyo Xacti HD2 performed much better than this! VERY VERY Disappointed...

Okay i got fed up and took the HG10 back to B&H, and i picked up a Sanyp Xacti HD1000. after emerying i got back 120.00 dollars and am much happier with the video quality the HD1000 is producing.

i will test it out and we can compare the outside shots with my dog again. but in the meantime here's a video i shot @ lunch today.

From what I can see your ghosting is interlace-related. Did you deinterlace (properly) before sending your video to Vimeo? I've seen ghosting like that sending interlaced SD video to Youtube. Look at my video http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yg_4Io5CZKA and you'll see the same sort of ghosting. I can't be bothered deinterlacing and resubmitting the video. Whereas my video http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=wCQ5EZDXRVA has no ghosting because I deinterlaced it first. It still has enough motion which would cause ghosting. What software were you using? If you still have the original file, deinterlace it first, then reduce it to whatever resolution/file format you need. I've seen absolutely no ghosting in my reductions to SD DVD from my HG10. It looks perfect on the TV. Interlaced video will never look great on a monitor. And it's very dependent on what software you are using to play it back.

I would agree. I used the HG10 and saw virtually no ghosting with camera output directly to a large screen HDTV.

Thanks guys, but i took back the camera and picked up the Sanyo HD1000, out of the box that things shoots great s videos... something that i need. i don;t have time to spend deinterlacing videos....
