Canon HG10 MTS to Mov

Hi guys I'm sorta in a pickle...

A client has given me his camera, the HG10 PAL camcorder, he had shot something in SP mode but the problem is I have nothing that can ingest that, I know Imovie can capture sony AVCHD stuff but I can't seem to do anything with these clips, I have the latest Imac with the latest version of FCP.

Is there a program I can download that can help me convert this to mov?

I've also tried looking for threads about this but nothing....so please help

There is no "capture" with AVCHD. It's just a data transfer. What are the specs of your iMac?

I know there are serious issues with AVCHD and non-Intel Macs, but yours should be able to handle it. Apple Support shows the PAL version HG10 to be compatible: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1014

My mistake; it is indeed a "capture and convert" scenario. Hopefully somebody will chime in with something that's actually helpful for you.
