the lens pictured is a 28-80 & the rails are cavision.. i will be selling the 2 10in CF rods really soon if youre interested

Why did you use a zoom lens when you can't zoom when using the adapter?
How much r u selling the rods for? :)

the only prime lenses i have right now are a fisheye & 300L

you can zoom with the adapter.. some lenses are better than others tho my 70-200L does alil better job

This is a common misconception although you are half correct. After you use your Camcorder's Zoom feature to properly frame your adapter's Ground Glass, you don't touch it again. Otherwise, you will lose the proper framing of your adapter's Ground Glass. So you can't Zoom with your camcorder's lens after this point.

You can however use an SLR Zoom lens mounted on your adapter to do the Zooming in and out on your subjects.

Dean, that is a beautiful rig. Be sure to get the fastest lenses that you can afford. It is money well spent especially when using a 35mm adapters.

Thank you Steve for the explanation. I see most folks uses prime lens so naturally I thought its because they can't use zoom and therefore a prime is a better choice for sharpness, cost and DOF.
May I also know if the f-stop is also being controlled on the camcorder itself or lens?

Both. Most times, after you frame up the adapter's GG with your camcorder's zoom, and then complete the back focus procedure for it, you then set your HV20/30 exposure and generally leave it alone after that (but not always). Usually after that point, you are only using the 35mm SLR lens for the focusing and exposure (f-stop) control over your shooting. Learn how to get control of your HV20/30's exposure with this link.
