I've had my HF100 since christmas. My first ambitious work.

I've been experimenting with the camera for a couple months. I've finally had the occasion to put all my experiments to use. An artist whose album I produced had a song placed in a TV show and wanted something to put online for any followup searches. I had him come to my recording studio and we shot a bunch of stuff and put it together into an electronic press kit.

I used vegas 8c to edit the clips. There is time compressed and slow motion used in many places. The slo mo technique I learned about on this site. All slow motion was 60i, 1/500th sec shutter. Everything else was 24p cine mode with a custom image effect for more color. I don't have any special lighting other than par cans I have in the recording studio.

All of it was shot through a .7 WA from canon except the first exterior shot which was a century .55.

Anyway, I submit this for anyone interested. HD available.

I hope it's not inappropriate to post a a link to a video here. If so, I will delete it.

Thanks, William

Hey, Thanks! I'm pretty happy with what I was able to get out of this little camera. I'm heading out on a cross country drive next week to shoot and interview another artist I worked with last year as a result of this little video. It's been a rather fortuitous effort that has landed a few jobs (video and audio) since I put it up. Not expecting that at all!

Cheers, BB

I just bought the HF100. What settings did you use to achieve that low light performance?

William Burke March 4th, 2009 12:19 AM

I was mostly using the 24p/cine mode for all the straight video. For the slowmo stuff (shots with the red guitar) there was a ton of light but I changed to the shutter priority mode and set it to 1/500 of a second and shot 60i. The high shutter speed really cut the amount of light that was getting in so it appears to be low light when the opposite is the case.
