transfer video from HDD

Hello,

I need help with moving video footage from my HG21 hard drive to my computer for video editing. I assume that it's just a file that needs to be moved? Please tell me what the step by step process is?

Thanks,
Troy

Wow. No one knows how this is done. I'm shocked:-) No worries, I decided to take a different route.

You don't mention what editing software you're using. But if you're using FCP, FCE or iMovie, you can't just log and transfer or pull AVCHD into the software. It needs to be transcoded into ProRes or Apple Intermediate Codec. You can let a program do that by connected the camera to the computer via USB 2.0 or use a separate transcoding utility.

Dave,

Sorry about that. I use Sony Vegas. I found out what the problem was. I initially didn't have the AC power cord and for some reason it won't initiate the transfer running on battery. It actually prompts you to connect the AC cord, but I didn't think it made a difference. After connecting the AC power it worked fine. Thanks for the help.
