Any reason not to use a 6-Pin to 4-Pin adapter for IEEE-1394 cable?

I already have a 6-Pin cable but was wondering if using an 6-Pin to 4-Pin adapter for my HV40 will be any problem.

I'd just get a 4-pin to 6-pin cable. They are really cheap.

The only one I ever had a problem with was a used 4-to-4 pin one bought in a town on the Amazon River when my original cable was bent. I searched for hours in every little shop. (You'd be surprised at how many used cables of all types were around, but new firewire cables were non-existent.) Now I carry two when ever I'm traveling.

David.

I use a six to four adapter with my HV30 all the time and it works just fine. I'm not sure where the adapter came from, but it looks like something I got when I bought some Apple device.

However, if you don't already have one lying around, maybe just get a new six-four cable. May cost the same as the adapter.

All depends on what you are connecting it to. This topic has been covered.
