LANC adapter for HFS-10

I have a Canon HFS-10, and have been using it on a small crane lately with great success.
Problem is I cannot accurately control record and zoom functions just using the remote, and was wondering if the Canon LANC adapter would work on it. I have heard conflicting things so was curious if anyone had tried it out and what the net result was.
I have a Bogen 523 controller for my XHA1 that I would really like to use with it. Is that possible?
Thanks in advance,
SW

Steve
I've got the HFS-21 and the Manfrotto 523 Pro i.
I've just tried it an at the first attempt, the on/off, record and zoom (all 3 speeds) functions work but I haven't been able to use the focus function or switch between AF/MF. The camera may need to be set up differently.

I've used the Canon remote controller ZR-1000, where the zoom and focus functions work well.

David, thanks for that input. Guess I could get one of those.
But do you or anyone know if Canon's LANC adapter--the ZA-V1, I think it is --works on a HFS-10? I don't want to buy the Canon controller unless there is a way to connect it. HFS-10 has no LANC port, it would need some type of adapter.

Steve, I use a Manfrotto 523Pro controller with the Canon LANC Adapter on an HFS100 with no problems, other than the fact that you can't use an external mic due to audio cross-interference. The internal mic is fine as a reference if you use an independent recorder.

Where does the Manfrotto 523Pro plug in on the HF S100? Mine doesn't have LANC.

Ray,
You have to buy the Canon LANC adapter which slides into the hot-shoe on top.
As I said, it works fine, but it does affect external audio sources through the AV socket.

I bought mine here:

That could be useful, thanks Robin.

Outstanding! Robin, thanks for the input, I am very glad to hear that. In fact I will order it now.

Well, I just got my Canon RA-V1 LANC adapter and Bogen 523Proi last night, spent part of tonight testing it. am happy to report that it all works really well. All functions provided by the Bogen 523 seem to work as advertised.
Now all I have to get for it is a 4' extension chord for the Bogen, so I can use it on my small crane.
BTW I also picked up the Canon WD-H58 wide angle at the same time, and am most impressed with its quality of construction. It'll get a real workot this weekend.
Thanks to all for your inputs.

Hi Steve,
Glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase(s)!
I've got the same lens - I used to use it on my XM2, It is indeed a very good piece of glass.
Enjoy!
