Using HV10 as a deck

So, since this camera uses USB with "Firewire IEEE 1394 protocol" can the camera actually be used as a deck with NLE software such as Vegas?

I ask this since I believe that Vegas will want to see the camera on a Firewire port.

The HV10 is equipped with both FireWire and USB jacks. You'll probably want to choose the FireWire jack when using this camcorder as a deck. The FireWire jack is located on the camcorder's lower front, and the USB jack is on the back. See the attached images -- note the tiny little component video output jack on the front, just above the FireWire port.

Sorry, there is neither a microphone input jack nor a dedicated headphone jack. Most likely the yellow AV in/out jack can be assigned for headphone output, as offered on other Canon camcorders.

While we are at questions : i do not really understand what video output interface this cam has. They are mentioning DC100 ?? Neither S, nor YUV component nor DVI nor HDMI ??

I've added some photos which show all of the input / output connectors.

For video there is analog AV in/out, DV/HDV in/out, and analog component out.

I don't know how anyone could squeeze DVI or HDMI onto this little thing.

is there any confirmation if the analog in supports componant, and also if you can record in HD or are you limited so SD only, and in camera to analog componant output does the signal simply pass in the full 1920 mode or is it down converted and then up converted?

Just wonder if HV10 has S-video IN/OUT to convert analog Hi8 IN from another camcorder player to typical DV out?
