ReallyReally Low Light footage taken with HV-10
 

Hey Guys. I promised a few users in this community i would do a super lowlight test with the HV-10 and well here it is. wont get any lower then pitch black.

i had to keep the video size low since i already uploaded two 720P video files for other users.

Hi!

What preset did you use when you shot this footage? i get VERY BAD blue vertical stripes with anything else than "spotlight" and "sunset" presets. (with these presets, the electronic gain is disabled). This little "feature" makes this camera quite useless in indoor shooting while this camera is otherwise perfect... ;)

is there any way to disable this gain in P (=manual) mode?

Unfortunately that G4 refuses to cooperate anymore... (kernel panics, possible motherboard fault). I think I'll buy three or four Core2Duo Mac minis to replace that G4. HD material requires much more prosessing power than SD, so i have to upgrade my cluster... :)

Yep same here, I installed OS X on my G4 and all was fine for a few months but then kernel panics started to occur, so now I only boot it up in OS 9.2 for audio stuff.

I am not so sure HD is that much more of a strain on your computer than SD, both have the same data rate (25mbps) and file sizes are comparable.

Mine has a hardware failure for sure, because it won't boot with any Install CD or startup HD... :/ I wouldn't care much, but there is 400gigs of material on old Ultra-ATA133 disks.. How I'm supposed to rescure the stuff when all my other Macs has SATA drives. :(

Editing is not the problem, but the final recompress, motion compensated deinterlace and 3D rendering of 1920x1080 res animation @ 25fps is real pain in the ass compared to standard resolution... ;)
