Anyone know exactly when the HV20 will become available?

I know April, but when in April?

Alastair Brown March 14th, 2007 07:06 AM

I'll add on USA and European release dates.

David Malanick March 14th, 2007 05:14 PM

I am going to get a Canon HV20 and was told It will be in stores on March 30. I'm going to Hawaii on April 26th. I want this camera with a few weeks to practice on. Don't know if I should wait till release date and hope to get it a little cheaper or preorder so I have one for sure.

If anyone hears anything on release date or a price cheaper then $1099(USD). Please post the Info!!!

I'm hoping B&H Photo has them in stock before April 1st.

If they do, make sure you have your orders in before April 1--otherwise you will have to wait till the 11th. [B&H will be closed from April 2-10 for Passover.]

I, too, am anxiously waiting for this camera. :-)

Larry Kamerman March 14th, 2007 07:28 PM

Went in to B&H last week to pre-order the HV20 and asked when they would have it in. Was told they weren't positive but could be by the end of next week, but most probably sometime the during the last week of the month.

Glenn Thomas March 14th, 2007 08:06 PM

Thanks for the replies. Before the end of the month sounds good!

Also, $1099 will be the price? I thought they'd be more than that.

My local Canon dealer is saying the HV20 will ship in "late March," maybe a little early. I've pre-ordered with them at a total price of $925 (plus, for me, a 3.25% machine tax). I put down 25% of the total to reserve my camera.

glen. we are in australia. they're not.

we need the PAL version. it's always more expensive and usually comes out later.

judging by the price of the HV10 you should expect the HV20 to cost around $2000-2200 AUD.

all my camera store can tell me is april. that's it. it's coming out in april.
i'm gonna go into the city and ask when they expect it again tomorrow.

Nick Laskowski March 15th, 2007 12:11 AM

1st week of April

Just ordered from B&H for $1099.00, the rep stated expect it first week in April.

Glenn Thomas March 15th, 2007 02:04 AM

Patrick, good point, but for what I do I don't really need to be shooting in PAL. Everything I shoot goes straight into the computer. If I do need to output anything in PAL, a simple Cineform conversion will do the trick. Advantages of NTSC are true 24P, and shooting in 60i with a higher shutter speed and later interpolating those fields will provide better slow motion than 50i.

I really hope its far lower then this cosnidering its touted as being far cheaper then the HV10 in all other regions i've seen thus far. (HV10 can be had for around 1800 AUD).

Ron Lemming March 15th, 2007 05:05 AM

You're so lucky! It seems like I will have to wait until beginning of May and it will be around $1615. The HV10 is around $1430 over here right now.

Patrick Jennings March 16th, 2007 11:10 PM

i went to 3 camera stores in the city and they all have no idea. they don't know when it arrives or how much it will cost. they said come back in 2 weeks and ask again.

damn :(

As soon as our site sponsors have the HV20 in stock, you'll know about it right here on this forum. Until then, it's just pointless speculation really. I've already had to ditch a reference to a shady Ebay listing -- please keep that sort of thing off this site please. DV Info Net refers *all* where-to-buy questions *exclusively* to our trusted site sponsors who are authorized Canon dealers. Thanks in advance,
