PAL HV20 footage?
 

Hi guys just wondered if anyone has managed to source a PAL HV20 yet? Canon have told my supplier mid april here.

Im desperate to see some 25p footage!! (and figure out if its easier to process as 25p in Vegas)

You would simply process it as you would 50i footage.

Oh I guess so since each "field" is an actual fact a full progressive 1440x1080 frame? I wonder if rendering to say 25p wm9 will work out ok or will it try and blend the fields together?

There's definetely no need for special processing, i.e. deinterlacing and blending fields. Converting to 25p WM9 will work out ok as it is. If you decide to set your project settings to progressive frames (or "No fields", I don't know what it's called in Vegas), you have to know that transitions or text effects (has been discussed here earlier) will also be rendered progressively and might not look as smooth as in a interlaced project. But you might as well leave the field settings as they are. I often mix progressive with interlaced footage in an interlaced project in Adobe Premiere and it works well.

same here but desperately looking to BUY a HV20Pal.. but cant find any local store selling it yet and not even online stores...sighhh..

I am not sure how WM9 works, why not just render it as a standard file, why the need to make it a 25p file?, it has no temporal difference between the fields so just render it as it is.

What I mean by that is, if you render it as a progressive 25p file (with no de-interlacing) it will be progressive, if you render it as a 50i file it will still be progressive !

I'm also keeping an eye on the horison for the first PAL HV-20's. Nothing on the radar yet.

i too am awaiting for this little monster in pal land any idea when it
will be arriving as it was supposed to be shipping in april in usa and
turned up early maybe it will be same in pal land and will appear pretty
soon heard dates of 7th 17th april but will have to wait and see ?
