You can convert 60i to 30p fairly easily and it looks good.

Hey, I didn't expect that at all - I've shot a lot of Sony Z1U footage, and done a lot of i to P conversion, and it never looked like that. How interesting.

FX7? But why! You already have an amazing camera as you just pointed out ;)

BTW, ever seen the Blackcell paintball HD videos? Incredible.

I have not seen any Blackcell stuff... Hmm I'll look into that...

Yea I was impressed, this is the first time I to P looked good to me... I had a Canon Elura 2 which had progressive Scan (single CCD... fairly old) but it was the last consumer cam to have progressive and interlaced options... (from canon atleast) until the HV20...

I just want more options, better low-light ;) HV10 is way too small... honestly if it was bigger in size, but shot the same, I'd probably keep it, but I want it to have some weight to it...

EDIT: It could be I was running 1/1000 and 1/2000 shutter for most of it...

Definitely something else though... they used a lot of compression even in the "HD" versions... but that can be expected, it was streaming

One question, what was with that guy grabbing the other guy and tossing him aside? I've never seen that in paintball, and I've played quite a few times.

Looked to me like the guy got tagged by a ball while he was refilling and the ref was calling him out of the game but he disagreed with the ruling. Maybe some verbal exchange with the ref.

Kind of looked like that to me as well. Still, I'm surprised he actually laid a hand on him.

Looks like the guy in the background has a paintball bounce right off his head at the very end of the clip! Time to turn up the pressure on those guns! ;)

Joe, I've got the FX7, HV10 and HV20 and to be perfectly honest, I prefer the HD footage from the two Canon cams! If you like the look of the Canons you may find the Sony has too much edge enhancement as a result of in-camera sharpening.

So be careful before buying to be sure the Sony look works for you. Otherwise the FX7 is a fine camera.

i love watching your videos. it motivates me to starting editing video (though i need to buy a new comp. my custom built one will cost around 1k. wont be buying it til end of apr/start of may)

I'll explain the story, the guy across the field and the guy who throws the other one are brothers... Rocky and Raymond Knuth

Rocky across the field did shoot Ben when he was refilling, but as you can see he checked his hopper and didn't find a hit,

The 2nd brother bunkers Ben but misses... so Ben turns around and shoots him...

Raymond doesn't like that, so instead of saying "get out" he just ... throws him...

Not typically acceptable behavior, but it made for cool footage ;)




And yea, Rocky got a bounce... we're all shooting 300 feet per second (roughly 204mph) but it slows down... you can typically shoot 125-150 feet holding the gun flat, but if you look most of the time we're lobbing them in ;) The field is 180 x 100ft



And I have always thought Canon had better image quality, I was thinking the FX7 because the 3 Cmos Chips... but we'll have to see ;)
