Mic on manual mode question at DVinfo.net

I notice that the screen shows mic level even when I have it turned off in the menu. The mic level shows that it is on manual. How do I turn it back to auto when in P mode? On full auto the mic level disappears. Anyone know the answer? I have read the manual and it is a litle vague on that.

Joystick press > down to Mic > up to switch between Auto and Manual.
