Cockpit footage...

Here's my first bit of footage from the front of a CRJ-700. We're passing an American Airlines 757 on our way up to Chicago. The file size is about 78MB. I ran it out at 720p but I can certainly notice horizontal banding in the final output. I'm using a Mac Pro laptop with iMovie. Any suggestions for optimum exporting?

I use Export / Expert Settings / Movie to QT Movie / H.264 with Auto Data Rate (is that ok?) / High Quality .

And what can I do to get this to stream?

More to follow including a takeoff and landing.

stuff looks good, can't wait to see some more.

as far as the settings you could proabably use a lower bitrate since most of the frame is blue, once you get into the quicktime settings, try restricting the data rate to 2000-3000, 3000 should work, but i'm curious if 2000 would work for this application. and if so the uploading/downloading will be much better.

also when at the movie settings dialogue, click the size button, and leave it on the 720 setting, but check the deinterlace source video box. that should render a sharper image.

Neat perspective. Can't wait to see the takeoffs and landings. thanks !

Regarding your question about "streaming", I believe you mean you want the movie to "Fast start". When you export you need to choose export " Movie to Quicktime Movie", then click the options. You'll see the choice for "Prepare for Internet Streaming" ~ Fast Start.

Thanks Austin, I meant to credit you for getting me started in the original post. I'll get more stuff up in the next few days.

Steve - Here are a couple different compression options for good looking H.264 for video and audio. I'd avoid streaming video files as you'll need a special server to run those from.

By far the easiest method is the Export "Movie to Apple TV" setting in QuickTime. You'll need the latest version of QT Player in order to see this.
Apple TV setting: http://moonbase9.com/images/forums/a...v_settings.png

If you wish to make manual settings try these:
Video Settings: http://moonbase9.com/images/forums/a...o_settings.png
H.264 Options: http://moonbase9.com/images/forums/a...optionspng.png
Audio Settings: http://moonbase9.com/images/forums/a...o_settings.png

Those settings will give you full res HD, but if you require something smaller just change Image Size and Date Rate settings.

I always wondered if I will see some HD videos of those amazing pics from airliners.net. All that unbelivable contrail, clouds, sunset, mist, magic stuff. Hope you now can catch some of this amazing moments on your camera and bring them to us.

Thanx in advace!
