Premier Pro 2.0 and 24P Tutorial
 

Hi there, I've just bought a Canon HV20 and want to start to edit my videos in Premier Pro 2.0 and export my final video in true 24p video. I've shot all my video on the HV20 in 24P mode, and all I need is for someone who's using Premier Pro 2.0 to post a tutorial on the easiest way to convert the video from the HV20 to 24P in Premier Pro 2.0.

That may require After Effects or some other third party program and that's fine, I'm just curious if anyone has a tried and true method for capturing, editing and exporting their final product using Premier and the Canon HV20. If they have can they please post a tutorial for the rest of us, it would be very helpful :) If no one gets around to it I'll def. make a tutorial once I myself figure out the best method.

There is more than one way to skin a cat... as they say... so here is
one workflow that works perfect...

you will need these two programs for this particular workflow...

Cineform (Aspect or Prospect)
Adobe Premiere Pro (works with all versions)

Steps:
1) Create your footage

2) Using Cineform HDlink (comes with the package)
connect the camera to the computer (firewire) and select 24P pulldown
in the options and scene detection if you want to edit scenes.

3) The file(s) will now be written to the computer hard drive and the files will
have an AVI as the extention.

4) Import the files into Premier Pro for editing... edit just like you would any
standard video file. Make sure when you open and create a new project
that you choose the Cineform preset for 24P.

5) Output the edit footage from Premiere Pro in your choice of format...

Pretty easy...

Perfect, exactly what I was looking for. I don't have the Cineform plugin but I'll look into it. What version of Premier are you using?

That work flow works with Premiere Pro 1.5.1, 20 and CS3

Aspect and Prospect also have other features adding to the editing package. I think you can buy NeoHDV from Cineform, and capture and convert to 24p pulled down files, and then use them inside Premiere.

I think Cineform will cost you $500 for the plugin.

I'm using Premiere Pro 2.0 too and on the hard way learning the 24p workflow in Premiere. For the FREE method, you will need a bunch of tools to remove the pulldown to extract the true 24p video. And also a high quality lossless codec such as Huffyuv. Last thing, you need to get the Premiere preset from Adobe at
