LCD Hoods for the HV-20
Has anyone had any experience with the various LCD hoods available???
What works well for the HV-20. I've done a lot of searches for the Petrol and Hoodman shades some good some bad. Any real world experience with any of these for the HV-20. I live in South Fl. and a lens hood for the LCD is "a must" to shoot in bright sunlight. Thanks Luis |
Hi Luis,
You can also just make your own. A little thin stiff cardboard or a VHS Plastic Tape cover, maybe a little black Duct Tape, a little Velcro, and a little Flat Black Paint, and you have just what you need. Can send you Pics if interested. I've made them for each of my four Cams and others for friends. Easy, quick, cheap, and they work as well as store bought. Harold |
Pics would be nice.
Thanks. |
Hi Rikki and Luis,
Check my post under "LCD Screen Shade" #11 I think. Check other my other Posts for lots of other DIY equipment Mods and augmentations. Harold |
I've used this one with good success...

Just remember that the best results come from the diagonal classic-Hoodman-style hoods, not the straight tunnels that typically are made for this size screen. You sacrifice a bit of image quality because you view the screen at a slight angle this way, but it will block much more ambient light.

I think I'm sold on the Cinematics, a bit more expensive but looks more adjustable and solid. Luis |
