How to clear decorations?

Hello,

Just started using the XA-10 and am simply in love with it! It's the camera I've been waiting for for years! That aside, I did some filming yesterday. Apparently I must have hit something that activated the 'decorate while recording' feature. On some of my scenes there's white scribbly lines present. Is there a way to clear them and just have the native, raw footage? This camera is great, but some of the 'advanced' features like this seem silly.

Any suggestions or a solution would be appreciated! I have to edit this footage pronto.

It's of no help, but same thing happened to me. I just fiddled in the menu till it was gone, and I'm sorry to say I have no idea how I fixed it, sorry.

Re: How to clear decorations?

I've done more research, and found that for some reason, Canon has the 'Decoration' mode set up to automatically start when you rotate and stow the LCD panel (so it's in the folded or closed position, but with the LCD screen on the outside). So if your fingers hit the screen, or anything for that matter, it draws the lines. That automatic function can be turned off by going into the Menu, going to settings and turning off the 'Autostart Decoration' function.

So, I've solved how to keep that from happening again, but the footage that was taken with the silly lines is still ruined unless somebody knows how to reverse or clear the decorations.

I'm desperate for a solution!

Looks like the drawing is embedded in the MTS file if applied while recording rather than during playback or conversion. I guess they thought that we want to play John Madden.
