Vixia G10 HDMI output
I'm assuming (That Word Again) the HDMI output on the XA10 and G10 are the same.
The colorspace seems to be a trade secret with Canon though. Does anyone know if it's 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 ? I'm thinking about piping mine to a Hyperdeck Shuttle. |

It's compressed AVCHD as near as I can find 4:2:0.
Kinda disappointing because it looks like all The Panasonic camcorders (not DSLR's) put out uncompressed HDMI. |

Depends on how hard you grade it, but there sure isn't worth putting a compressed video on SSD's when you can put it on SD cards.

I think that 4:2:2 cams are the province of pro line cameras mostly, but I could be wrong. I think video shot for broadcast is supposed to be 4:2:2 if I'm not mistaken.
I almost bought the Canon XF100 partially based on the superior color space specs, but I don't shoot for broadcast. For my work the price didn't seem justified on my limited budget. |

No, I'm saying it outputs it as 8 bit 4:2:0 through the HDMI Port.
That's the best guess by the experts, but it is Compressed AVCHD of the port. My AC 130 puts out uncompressed 10 bit 4:2:2 which makes it near perfect for the BM Shuttle. |
