xa20 vs XF105

Coming from Sony EX1 I'm not fully convinced of the XA20 , shall I pick the XF105 instated .
I know they are different line , I'm looking for best video quality compact fully manual camcorder under $3000 .

Any suggestion please .

They are overall quite different camcorders. And "best" gets into opinions and specifics of your requirements. The XF105 adds features not in the XA20, but the XA20 has more zoom range.

Without more information on what you specifically want/need, and relative importance no way to give a meaningful recommendation.

As above, very different cameras.

The XF100/105 uses a 50Mbit MPEG-2 codec and has more manual controls on the camera body, but the XA20 has double the zoom range and 1080 50/60p recording, albeit in AVCHD.

For broadcast/green screen work I would say the XF100 is the better choice. For anything else I'd probably go with the XA20.

I need it for documentary works most time will be day bight outdoor shooting , I do have all pro lighting and audio gears.
Zoom is not that importance, while size and video quality is essential .
I'm thinking to get the XA20 now and live with it till the successor of the XF line revealed .

The XA20 also records 1080p60 in 35mbps MP4.

I have the XA 20, and really like the picture colors right out of the camera. Sharp too. The 20x zoom was why I got it. I don't do a lot of major color correction or grading.
