Is one "blip" normal ??
 

My email to Canon this mornings says it all. Their tech support suggested that there might be a very short 1/2 sec "blip" when the new file starts. Could the card be the culprit?

Well, OK. Long story short. I have two of these small Canon R400 cameras. One does great, the other will drop about 1/4 th of a second when the next file starts during a 60 minute shoot. Of course this throws off the sync of the two video tracks in my multicamedit. Suggestions?? I am using a high speed "10" card.

I have just noticed the same thing. I have two Canon Legria HF200 cameras. I shot a lecture that went for 100 minutes. I used my JVC GY HD111E as the main camera and the two Canons for cutaway shots. I shot one Canon with a 32GB class 10 card and the other with a 16 GB class 10 card.

The Canon with the 16GB card had to have a change of card before the end of the lecture and the Canon with the 32GB card did not. The footage from both cameras was run through ClipWrap and then imported into FCPX.

I tried the multi cam edit and ran into all sorts of issues. When I finally had it sorted into three angles, I found Camera 3 was drifting out of sync. There were short breaks in the footage as AVCHD went over the 2GB mark. I ended up with eight files, some of which, but not all, had small breaks from the previous clip.

Camera 2, recording onto the 16GB card produced one long clip for the length of the card, even though there were segments, the clip came out in one continuous length.

It is something on which I will be keeping an eye.

(BTW, the clips from the JVC were in 2GB segments too, but clip wrap turned the .MTS segments into one long clip too)

I have only just started using Class 10 cards as the older HF200's required a firmware upgrade to be able to use Class10.

What size cards were you using Tom?

Tim, Sorry to take so long to get back with you. I'm using 32 gig cards. Also, since I am doing a complete initialization of my cards in the camera before each shoot, the issue seems to have corrected itself.
No more dropped frames so far.

Thanks Tom, I will try that too. I have been using the SD Consortium tool for card formatting, but will switch to the in-camera one now and see how I go.
