Matching 24p camcorder footage to Canon EOS Cinestyle profile?

I'm new to camcorders :) So a lot of filmmakers will say you shouldn't mix cameras that are as dissimilar as a DSLR and a AVCHD cam, but I also watch documentaries where I can tell they mix footage and it doesn't take me out of the story.

I know there's really no definitive answer to how to exactly match my 7D footage (in 24p1080, Cinestyle picture profile, then sweetened in post) to my Vixia HF G20, but...
Anyone want to share some hints? I have the G20 in manual mode, and the contrast, sharpness and saturation all the way down.

Thanks!

Re: Matching 24p camcorder footage to Canon EOS Cinestyle profile?

I don't know the HF G20, but I have the (Legria, I'm in PAL land) HF G30. I also used to shoot my EOS 60D in Cinestyle. The nearest match is to shoot the G30 in Cinema Mode with Contrast at minimum, Colour at either minimum or -1. Brightness is only adjustable when shooting in auto, as you probably know. It's not a good match, just a bit closer.

If I was still shooting my 60D in Cinestyle, I would try changing some of the profile settings to try to get it closer to the G30. I find the Flaat profiles a better match to the G30 than Cinestyle, 10n is a good one. I have also tried "Prolost", that's Canon Neutral with Contrast and Sharpness at minimum and saturation at -2, but the contrast is still too high.
