XC10 or XC15 - internal vs external (10-bit?) recording

As I understand it, the XC10 will output 10-bit from its HDMI. Has anyone compared internal 8-bit to external 10-bit recording?

Thanks.

It does not output 10-bit.

Oh, didn't realize. I head read several posts where Canon had stated it did, but probably wrong?

I'll search for them. While I'm looking: do you have the XC10 that you can test this with?

I could do this Tuesday, but what kind of tests would be needed exactly?

Here is what I saw about 10-bit:

Canon XC10 extensive camera REVIEW
https://www.cinema5d.com/canon-xc10-...era-announced/

But... on another forum, someone showed a screenshot that shows only 8-bit output.

So, Gary, if you connect up to a shogun etc., looks like it it's only 8-bit. Can you confirm?

Neither Gadgetflux or Cinema5D are what I would call authorities on the topic.

How would I confirm if the signal is 8-bit on a Shogun?

I agree. That is why I questioned whether it's 10-bit or not.

I think that some external recorders will tell you whether it is receiving 10-bit or 8-bit, no?

The Shogun does not.

So... Does it have EXTERNAL 4k 10bit 422 output in the end or not?

B&H says 8bit (here in SPECS https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...c013_xc10.html)

I couldn't find any official 10bit statement, allthough Canon says that XC15 gives an image like C300 MII (that is 10bit).

The image is similar in color, even the "Production Camera" color profile is included (i.e. the Alexa profile). You're reading far too much into that statement to believe Canon means it is 10-bit. The image from the XCS15 is and always will be 8-bit.
