auto focus problems with xf100
I am wondering if anyone has the same problem with their xf100. When I put the camera in auto focus and shoot a talking head it goes from focusing on the subject to the background. It will just go back and fourth slowly through a five minute video.
I am sure if might me a user error I am very new cameras in general and new to this one as well. Any suggestions. thanks |
Re: auto focus problems with xf100
Was this in regular autofocus or face-detect auto focus? I've noticed on rare occasions when using the face detect autofocus, the camera will track a face, then if it sees something in the background with greater contrast (a clump of bushes for example) that "looks like a face" to the camera, it will try to track that instead. Usually it behaves though.
If your talking head is not moving, try autofocusing on your subject then put it into manual focus. I usually do this when shooting a wedding ceremony - autofocus on the bride and groom and then put it into manual focus to prevent it from hunting for another face (like the minister behind them) |

I get that problem as well, quite annoying, I just manual focus, not a big deal.

Re: auto focus problems with xf100
Hi
I observed that problem with static objects when there is low contrast (luminosity) and/or low light. Changing the lighting may solve the problem. BR |
Re: auto focus problems with xf100
Are you talking about hunting for focus, or shifting focus from the subject of interest to the background and then back after some trigger event?
A variety of image conditions can cause autofocus issues; movement in the frame, low contrast, poor light, background content, changes in image content, and certain lighting changes to name a few. |
