xf-100. video streaming?

hi,
i'm considering buying an xf100 for corporate, marketing and wedding videos as it seems the best camera for my budget and will complement my 7D.
i have a doubt though. is it possible to connect the xf100 to a macbookpro/pc laptop to do live streaming on the web?
has anyone done this?
how did they go about it?
thanks

It's cheaper to stream through firewire from an HDV camera such as the Canon HV20/30/40 or Sony FX7/FX1000 or Z5U. With the XF100 you may need to do HDMI capture using something like the Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle for Thunderbolt.

I haven't actually tried live streaming but wouldn't expect it to be a problem. The XF100 has HDMI, component, and AV out so those signals should be useable the same as the equivalent signals from any other camera. Your computer and streaming software just has to be able to accept the camera's output. The info on connections is on p 124-130 of the English version of the User Manual.

Here are some ways to stream from tapeless cameras: Live streaming in the age of tapeless cameras : NewspaperVideo

I use an XF305 but it's the same for the XF100.

Joe - it depends on what streaming service you want to use. For pro services such as brightcove, ooyala, dacast and justin.tv, I would get a $699 Teradek VidiU.

For consumer oriented services such as ustream, livestream or youtube, I would get a simpler-to-use $699 Ceravo LiveShell Pro.

Hope this is helpful!
