Matching an XF300 w/ XLH1

I have a 2 camera shoot coming up...need to match up my XF300 as close as possible with an XLH1. Anyone compare them side by side? Are they close?

thnx

Re: Matching an XF300 w/ XLH1

hi there...I have the XHA1s and also the XF300.
I had the XF300 for a week when I decided to use it for a wedding along with the XHA1s and a T3i...yep. I like living dangerously!
I found the XF300 sharper of course (it's a 1920x1080 pic) and the XHA1s only 1440x1080 so there is some resolution difference but not extreme. The dynamic contrast is better on the XF300- I can see more in the dark areas but the most difficulty is with the colours. I tried the truecolor and VIVID RGB pic setting on the XHA1s and I used the truevid on the XF300 ( i got the preset from forums here on DVINFO...thanks!) and I found the footage from both cameras kind of hard to match in the edit. The VIVID was a bit much red..
So, I decided to use some magic bullet looks presets and that made the video look fairly uniform..
I think that the next time I will try them both on NO PRESET and do the colour grading in post production...but I was naive!
In this video (not a masterpiece but an honest effort!) I combined footage from a T3i with a Tamron f2.8 lens, a Canon XHA1s and a Canon XF300- the T3i is easy to spot for the shallower depth of field...
in the Church segment the XHA1s is the shot from the balcony...
in the reception I used them both (at one point I ran out of space on my Compact Flash cards so I switched to my XHA1s)...
I could have graded the footage a bit better but I still feel that the video turned out acceptable...I have since decided that if I really want to get them closer then I won't use presets and do all colour grading in post. It doesn't have to be Magic Bullet looks...I use FCP so basic colour correction filters will do too.
Here is the video in case you are curious (again...a decent effort for a one person crew and a helper!)
the frame that Youtube shows is a shot with the XHA1s
