If you are editing in Premiere make sure you copy entire card to hdd and ingest via Media Browser.

Which NLE (including release #) are you using?

Re: Canon XF files

Depending on which NLE, you may need to install a free plugin from Canon. Like Premiere, FCPX also requires the entire card structure to import AND a plugin from Canon..

Re: Canon XF files

Good question, Don. Different NLEs handle MXF differently.

To add to the comments on Premiere CC (at least on PC):

Importing through the Media browser window using the original file structure is indeed recommended to ensure that spanning between individual source files is seamless. However, a raw Canon MXF file imported by itself will play fine. The Canon XF Utility even has a feature to export to an MXF file (no folder/file structure, just an MXF file).

If some raw MXF files from your CF card will play in your NLE and some won't, it suggests file corruption...although the XF Utility seems to me to be very particular about the folder/file structure so it is surprising that it will play all your files but your NLE plays some files and not others.

The only other long shot I can offer is if you've recently updated the XF300 firmware and not the XF Utility, that could potentially be a problem:

(see Drivers & Software >> Firmware for notes on this).
