InstantHD

does anyone know whether i could convert 0.9dv footage to closely match that of 1.2dv shot by canon a1?

0.9dv was shot using panasonic dvx30. 1.2dv is fullscreen widescreen, no letterbox. 0.9dv looks like a video in black box. bars all around.

any help appreciated.

What software packages are you running? Anytime I had ran into an occasion like this in the past, it comes down to stretching and cropping the video footage in my editing application. The quality loss of stetching the video image in an editing application would likely be the same as some specializing conversion software or video converter that might change the pixel aspect ratio from 0.9 to 1.2.

I used a program called Photozoom for converting 4x3 footage to high quality 16x9 SD. This might give you an idea of what you can do. I did side by side tests of Instant HD and Photozoom and they were pretty much identical.

Here's the procedure I use, documented on my site: http://www.pinelakefilms.com/uprez.html
