taking pictures with the A1

Hey all, I have figured out how to use the photo feature and to save to the card, but how do you save to the tape? and how exactly does that work? Also what kind of quality are most of you getting in your shots, any tricks that don't require touching up the pics? Thanks, Tony

You can't save a still photo to tape -- it must be saved to the SD card -- but that shouldn't present a problem. You can extract stills from tape, though.

Just found out that you can take a picture to the sd card while still shooting. You also can Take a picture to the tape. Heres how: In Camera Mode go to Menu > Customize > Customize Function > Tune > Go to # 08 it says "SIMULT. IMG. REC . Select 01 for take a pic while shooting Select 02 for Both tape and still. Hope this helps :) Also i was testing my A1 with the pics inside with low light. a ton of noise. I turned down the Gain -3 and shoot at the light. Looks Great. Had to turn off AGC

How do u upload pictures?

Eric Weiss August 5th, 2007 12:05 PM

I found that I get great results in post, extracting a video frame instead of using the photo option. Here are a few stills.

The camera feature is nice, but when you swtich from video to card, the exposure and color casts are a little different. I found myself adjusting and readjusting shots in order to take a still. If you have that kind of time during a shoot, the card stills are decent, but only a bit better than what can be achieved from a screen cap.

Yeah i agree its much better quality. How do you get photos to come up on the form like the surfer pic?
