Best Scene Detection for A1 captures?

What is the best software for scene detection when capturing with the XH-A1?

I am using Sony Vegas and it will not detect any scenes with the XH-A1. The Sony forum reports this as a known issue to be resolved, but it is wasting a lot of my time in the meantime.

Thanks!

Hi Jeff. That's strange, I'm using the A1 with Vegas and the scene detection works fine, except for the odd frame or 2 that gets put in the wrong side of the break.

Anyway, to answer your question, there is a free program you can download for this, HDVSplit. If you can't find it by searching please post again and I'll try to find a link.

Both HDVSplit and Vegas works just fine at my machine connected to the XH A1

I got tired of Premiere not detecting scenes and finally used HDVSplit a few weeks ago. Works great. Still doesn't explain why some of the big software packages can't do this...

I will try HDV split

I have heard that Vegas works well for some folks and does not work for others.

I never had a problem with scene detection on my Sony & JVC cameras.

Thanks for the help and link to HDV split.

Last night I did my first capture on Premier CS3 and I was surprise with improvement in this aspect. I dont know if I was lucky but usually in cS2 I had issues capturing + not recognizing time code in some of the captured scenes from my A1.
