HD LCD TV for PAL A1 - please advise !

I have a PAL XH-A1 and looking to import an LCD TV (full HD 1920x1080) from USA.
(they are simply too expensive here !)

before HDV there was PAL (Europe) and NTSC (usa)

Now, I'm somewhat confused.
I understand that my A1 shoots @ 50i (not 60i like in USA)
and the output via component cable is 1080i - right ??

SO.... if I bought an HD LCD TV in USA what are the issues with compatibility ???

Most have no problem with operating voltage (USA = 110v Europe = 200v)
The sony Bravia I'm looking at for example (model = KDL 40V3000)
operates on both voltages.
However the video system says NTSC.... is this just the TUNER ?

would it work with my PAL XH-A1 for viewing HDV..... or what is I used the HDMI output from a PAL CANON HV-20 for example.

The SONy BRAVIA KDL 40v300 seems to have the same model number in Europe... but looks like it has a PAL video system.

All I want to use the LCD TV for is previewing my HDV footage.

Can anybody assist me with some info.
Thanks
Shawn

Hi Shawn...........

As far as I can work out, the only thing the US Sony won't do is display SA terrestrial TV channels via it's built in tuner, and Pal encoded SD material**.

Everything else should work fine.

Even a PAL machine from another PAL country probably won't have full functionality on tuner aquired channels due to different audio offsets on the carrier signal.

**From experience, most PAL equipment nowadays will play NTSC encoded material (a reason to buy a PAL system if in PAL land). As the rest of the planet does not exist for those in NTSC lands, NTSC equipment rarely, if ever, plays PAL encoded material.

For this reason, it may be better to source your Sony from Singapore if possible (which I believe is both PAL & dirt cheap).
