You need a light kit.

Loren Simons December 10th, 2007 08:17 PM

Yea, i shot this with the canon a1 and i think a total of 20 dollars of those metal construction lights, bulbs included! =D

Bryan Ramirez December 10th, 2007 08:41 PM

I think you did a great job, some people dig low light, high contrast lighting.

Steven Dempsey December 10th, 2007 11:08 PM

Not sure low light and high contrast go together

Loren Simons December 10th, 2007 11:44 PM

Thanks, yea i liked the look, even my photographs in lightroom i bump up the blacks. I like the look, kinda like a deep thinking thing. idk guess its just the style, but yea planning on getting a light kit anyways.=D

Carl Middleton December 11th, 2007 12:15 AM

I like it. Run with whatever style you feel best portrays what you are trying to convey to the audience. That's what it's all about - not lighting everything perfectly using 3 point lighting - it's about conveying the emotion YOU want to convey. :) Enjoy your own, unique, style. :D

I thought the lighting was good.

The only problem I had with it is that it didn't really had an ending. I know it was like based off of A Beautiful Mind (lol the music doesn't give it away or anything), but there wasn't really an ending.

Loren Simons December 11th, 2007 05:16 PM

hahaha well in fact there was an ending, it just wasn't very obvious. No one in my family got it either. hahahah it was just a really extensive decisions on a ttic tac toe move =)

Nicholas Tran December 11th, 2007 11:02 PM

I totally agree with Carl. I had no problems with the lighting... actually, I liked it. Use a light kit when the mood calls for it.

Bryce Olejniczak December 12th, 2007 02:58 PM

Yea, the light looked really cool. I hate when low-budget films try and light everything... It looks really fake.

Sean Sanczel December 13th, 2007 12:08 AM

Hi Loren,
Just thought I'd throw in my two cents. I liked the look of it. I especially liked your shot composition. All except for that last two-shot.. which I thought didn't match the artistic framing choices of the other shots.

Overall, a nice little piece.

There. There's my two cents.

Thanks to all =) Advice taken to thought and compliments very appreciated =)
