Blinking HDV/DV IN on 1394 Firewire connection

Just build a new editing rig and I plugged in my XH-A1 today (via IEE 1394) and got the blinking HDV/DV IN and Windows XP SP2 x64 will not recognize it.
Saw some post on similar problems in this forum but no solutions.

I've tried different drivers as some have posted.
I've tried different inputs on my computer.
Haven't tried a new cable yet, as it was working 2 days ago.

Do you have any suggestions?

ASUS P5E WS Pro
Q6600 (G0)
8G DDR2 800Mhz
XP Pro x64 SP2 fully up to date.

My IEE 1394 is:
VIA OHCI Compliant IEE 1394 Host Controller

Blinking hdv/dv in

When this happened to me, it meant the FireWire port on the camera went south. I sent it to Canon for repair under warranty.

Ditto

Scott,

Just got off the phone with Canon for the same reason. Their response is the blinking HDV/Dv In signal means the camera is trying to communicate with the Computer but it can not. After trouble shooting I was told to send my camera back for service.

I tried the camera on multiple computers and with different cables.

luckily I live about 2 miles away from the Canon service center here in Irvine, CA.

Dropped off the camera this afternoon and gave them my XH-A1 owners club card and they said it'll be ready in 5 days!

I'll let you know how it turns out.

Funny that this just happened to me for the first time today. However, my story had a happier ending. I hooked up the camera to a different PC using a different firewire cable and all worked well. So just make sure you double check the other parts of the chain during the troubleshooting process. (Ah, but you said you did that, didn't you? Forget I mentioned it.)

Premiere Pro CS3 and 2.0

GL2 works fine, the XH-A1 was not showing on multiple computers and OS's.
