First Try at a Wedding Trailer

This is my first attempt at a wedding trailer, I will be the first to admit that I have no clue what I'm doing when it comes to trailers so please be gentle :)
I really want some input here, nothing here was shot with a trailer in mind, I just used what we had... Thanks

Slow DL

Nathan:

I tried taking a look at your video but it is taking a long time to download. Too long for my online patience level. You might consider a different way to post it.

Hey Nathan,
From your description I was really expecting something pretty aweful. This wasn't aweful, it was great! I think you did a few things very well, and a few not so well. First of all, I loved the minister's voiceover. I thought the pace really built the anticipation. The color, exposure, focus and framing were excellent. My criticism is pretty subjective. There were a few shots that were a bit shaky but nothing they will notice. The audio transition to cut the song was also a bit abrupt. Not crazy bad but noticeable. The only real beef I had is telling a story here. More than just a collection of good shots, this should be a small telling of the story. When did the ceremony happen? Did it happen? Where is the family? Where are the guests? It left alot of those place and time setting questions unanswered. I felt more like I was watching a photo shoot than a buildup to a wedding or whatever that was. Again this is probably prett subjective. Good luck, and I can say that if you're starting here, then look out cause this is miles from where I started (or where I am now in alot of cases) btw what preset etc here? It looks good.
Bill

Hi Bill, Thank You for the comments. For some reason I could not get the song transition to go the way I wanted it to, I needed to spend some more time on it. The timeline is really somthing I stuggled with, normally I'm very chronological in my edits but I wasn't sure how to approach the trailer idea. I need to watch some more on the boards here. We shoot with a slightly modified vividrgb preset. We just pulled the color gain and red gain down a little bit.
Thanks

Hey Nathan,
I have a few on my site that I think demonstrate the idea (even if the application is not as good) anyway... good luck. these are fun really.
Here are some newer ones.

Just a note about the song cut at :44 secs. That should have been really easy to make work. Of course it helps to have some sort of musical sense though. Whatever beat you make your 1st cut on... 1 2 3 or 4 (or even 1/2 beats), just pick it back up on the same beat & no one would be the wiser :)

I do this all the time if I feel the need to merely shorten a song instead of just fading it out. Sometimes it's more difficult because I have to observe musical structure before I make any decisions.

Thanks David, I love that shot too, almost happened by accident :)

I've been working on some other stuff where I needed to shorten songs and it sounds like I'm getting better at it.
