Dance Video and Wide Angle Lens

People talk about using a wide angle with the XH-A1 for close ups but would a Century wide angle help with close ups from fifty feet plus? Any advice?

Wide-angle, close-ups and fifty-feet-distant don't quite add up. What is it you are trying to achieve? The wide angle might help in getting the whole stage into the frame if you can only shoot from close-up to the stage, but if you've got fifty feet available then you can probably get the whole stage in anyway.

True I can frame the complete stage from left to right in the video but wouldn't a wide angle with zoom through allow me to zoom even closer without losing the dancers on far left and right?

As you zoom in, you are altering the field of view. The wide angle converter gives you a wider field of view, but by the time you've zoomed about half way in, you've got the same field of view as you would have without the converter.

Hi

As long as you can zoom in to cover the field of view you don't need a wide angle adaptor.
