My First Short Film - Mario's Flight!

Hey!
Here you have my first short film shot with XHA1.
I am a complete newbie (I'm not Dempsey!) so don't expect too much.

Newbie? Yeah Right! That was excellent. I was hoping he was going to wake up from a bad dream.

Dennis Murphy October 8th, 2008 02:49 PM

Haha, nice.
Well acted too!

My First Short Film - Mario's Flight!

I think the piece is a worthy contribution to any Short Film Festival.

Who's Dempsey? That guy from Grey's Anatomy? :)

I really enjoyed this, good work.

I like it nice shots and a lot of humour and cynicism.

Question did he jump ? ;)

Felicidades Joan. Me gusto mucho tu primer video!
Solo una pregunta. Utilizaste un adaptador para este video?
Donde en Espana grabaron?
Buena suerte y sigue haciendo videos.

Excellent.

A great little film, you must be very pleased.

You know, the tone completely shifts about halfway through. It was serious and well acted then it became cynical and campy (especially when the break into dance). Just my opinion but you seem to be a better director at the "serious" than the "campy", because for whatever reason, the introduction to the jumper is WAY above short film status. It almost looks like an episode out of a television show- that's how competent your actors are, how good your shot selection is and how proficient the writing is. If I had the actor that played "the father" I'd use him in a second. He has cinema presence.

Amazing for your first and again, just my opinion, stay away from camp and make it serious - because all the elements are there for a festival winner (and serious always does better at festivals).

Best,
-C

Hey!
Thanks a lot again to everyone who liked the video.
It was shot in Hostalric (Girona - North East Spain) and I didn't use any adaptors... Basically I can't afford buying one!
The man who plays the father was an actor in the 60s 70s. He did some films with Vicente Aranda and even played the main role in Perros Callejeros (a must-see movie about Spanish criminals)

I appreciate your feedback and it encourages me to do more things!

thanks a lot!!
