compression/colors question

does compressing a clip lighten up the colors, i mean wash them out also, i know it becomes more pixelated, as in harder to see,

i film for this website, they want me to film in 16x9 SD, and i also compress the clips to 480x272, so they can easily upload to their website

i also am pretty sure they do more compression to the clips b/c when i view them on the site, it looks far more compressed

what all does a compressed clip take away from the original clip?

thanks

Hi,

Compression reduces information - compresses - a clip. That can mean a lot of things, to include reducing the color information, reduce the sound quality by changing the frequency range, even the number of frames in a second, and much more.

Does that help?

Mike
