welding torch and ccd?

Hi guys,
next week I'll have to film in a metal workshop where they'e going to use welding torches etc. Does anyone know if the light of these torches could damage the CCD's of the XH A1 when filming it?
Thanks

The welding arc won't affect your ccd. Just be careful to avoid looking directly at the arc yourself and either protect the lens or don't go too close to avoid any splatter from the welding damaging the lens.

Ditto. I have shot some welding with no problems.

Thanks a lot!

I have shot a lot of welding operations in an aerospace manufacturing plant. I've shot what seems like every type of weld process there is.

No, it will not hurt your CCD's. However your eyes are another matter! I got mild flash from one of my attempts. Cost me a week off of work, as well.

Odd that it could happen to me, as I was always so careful and hey, it's never happened to me before. The lesson here is, yes, it can and does happen--so remember first and foremost, Safety First.

So my first advice to you is, BRING A TRIPOD, set up your shot, hit record and leave the area while any welding is taking place. This way you get your shot, and your safety is assured.
