Coverting HD to SD

How do I go about converting hd to sd. Is this something that can only be done in post or can the camera somehow convert it to sd for me. I have several tapes that I shot in HD did I need to prepare then in any fashion so that the camera can convert to SD?

Kevin, there is an option in the menu to downconvert during capture however for best results I capture and edit in HDV then just render my project as SD widescreen.
Never tried downconverting in camera as editing hdv is no probs and it means i can also render off a Blu-ray version if i want.
hope this helps john
