Panalook and Panalook 2 preset differences.
Here's the differences in the settings between Steven Dempseys PANALOOK and his PANALOOK2.
He says that P2 is 'not as vibrant' but 'shows skin tones better'. It's the 'not as vibrant' that concerns me now, so I wanted to see the differences in his settings. Comments welcome. I use PANALOOK 1 and find it matches the the colours of the DVX100 very well when used together which I do, the only thing is that I have to increase the contrast quite a bit in post to match the contrast of the DVX, I don't know if there is anything in the preset which could be changed to give more contrast? does anyone know?

Mick, using PANALOOK, to match the contrast of your DVX, try increasing the Colour Gain to 3 or 4 and the Master Pedestal to -5 or -4. Set Knee to Middle. Start there, someone else might add to this.

Thanks Allan, I'll try that.

Good Mick, I'm interested in what results you get.

In my opinion the "not as vibrant" is caused by the stretched black. I think that should be at least middle. And the Setup level at -1. Mine is at -4 /-5 which gives me more contrast.

I'm a little confused, are these presets already loaded into the camera that you can select with one press of the button, or do you have to go into each setting and dial all these setting in manually? Sorry, my A1s will arrive today.
|
Hi Danny
I just got my A1s and had the same question. The camera has a few presets, but you can add the ones that users have created (see listing at the link below). The A1s user's manual will explain how to load these presets from a memory card (Page 92).
Hope that helps. http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/canon-xh-...rary-copy.html |
