How do you make a Custom Preset?

I've always just been downloading the custom preset .cpf files that people make and upload (with much gratitude and appreciation), but I have never actually made one of my own, or known how to.

How do you actually make a custom preset? How do you change camera settings and save/export the preset you make?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Morgan: go to the menu, select customize then custom preset. A bit of trial and error will be needed to navigate around the edit menus, how to save changes etc - you can save the preset to the camera or the card - but that shouldn't take long. As for what all the parameters actually mean, well that's complex and I don't understand it all myself but if you set your camera up with a nice monitor then start modifying each parameter of a preset you can see the effect which is the main thing. I've got 2 or 3 presets which I use regularly now, all modifications of ones taken from kind people on this forum.

Or you can just download this freeware program and build your presets on your PC or Mac and then load them on the SD Card in the A1. It's much easier than doing it "in camera".

Looks like an interesting idea. What makes your interpretation better than XH Tuner software?
Is there a way to preview the changes on a monitor while doing them. Otherwise, what makes editing presets easier? It would be hard to imagine what the settings do, until you loaded them back to the camera and tried them with a monitor.
But I downloaded it and will play.
thanks.

What's easier is setting up the preset. Once you play with doing it in camera through the menu, you'll see why this application is easier to use and to clearly understand which settings you are changing.

True, you can't test it immediately, however, you can make 20 variations, place them all on the SD card and then see which one you like best.
